Ski Pants Design

Snow sports involve snow, which carries a combination cold and moisture that could cut your expedition short if you're not well protected. Wearing the right pants can mean the difference between an enjoyable day on the slopes and one where you're in a rush to get back to the lodge to escape the elements. We have different options for ski pants from which to choose, depending on your preference:

Pants with Suspenders - The suspender option is convenient for a number of reasons. The suspenders stay on your shoulders, enabling your pants to stay up whether you wipe out or not. It also can be frustrating to constantly have to pull regular pants up or attempt to tie drawstrings with bulky gloves or fingers that are numb from being cold. Suspenders eliminate those problems entirely. There are also pants with removable suspenders that give you the option to have the traditional bib pant.

Waist Pants - For those of you who are not fans of the suspender style of pant or bibs, we offer regular waist pants. These pants are still good for keeping you dry and warm while on the slopes.

Insulation vs. Shell - If you ski in colder climates, insulated pants are a good choice for you. Just like the insulation on your house, it will help keep the wind and the cold air out. They come in waist models and suspender versions. There are a variety of insulated pants to choose from with the traditional or free ski looks.

Shell pants are un-insulated. They offer a lighter-weight option and are best for skiers who stay warm or those who ski in warmer climates. These pants also come in suspenders or waist models and in the traditional ski looks or free ski styles.

Other design considerations -

• Waterproof, breathable fabrics: Our waterproof products are designed with laminates and coatings that have been tested thoroughly to deliver waterproof protection. They are breathable to keep you comfortable while you wear them and are engaging in physical activity.
• Stretch fabrics: While on the slopes you will be twisting, bending, turning and moving in ways that require a material to be as flexible as you are. It's not fun to squat down and hear your pants rip. Especially while out in the snow and cold air.
• Thigh vents: The thigh vents are similar to the pit zips that are found in jackets. They offer ventilation in the pants to cool you down. As you move and the blood begins to circulate more rapidly, your body temperature will rise. Having the option to release some heat will make you more comfortable throughout the day.
• Lengths: A variety of ski pants come in three lengths: short, regular or long. You can shop for the entire family and find comfortable and fitting clothes for everyone.
• Snow gators: Most ski pants have snow gators inside the pants legs regardless of the style. Snow gators are important (one of the most important features in ski pants) because they seal completely and securely around the ski boot, keeping the snow out. Rear protection: Some pants offer extra padding or insulation in the rear to keep you warm and comfortable when sitting on those cold chairlifts
