I bought three sets of these wrists guards for my kids. There ages are 10, 12 and 14. My kids won't ski without them. They pose no discomfort. They are instrumental in the safety of their wrists. My son has fallen several times and has actually been happy for the added protection. An example of a fall is, he was hit from behind by a snow boarder, on accident of course, and fell directly on his wrists. Had he not had them on, I am sure he would have had a major wrist injury.
