Big Agnes Seedhouse SL2 Tent: The Big Agnes Seedhouse SL2 tent carries quite a story in its name. More than a century ago places back east were becoming “civilized.” The West was still a bit wild. North Routt County was the stomping ground for outlaws, gold diggers, and card playin’ cowboys as well as good ‘ole country folk trying to find their own place. The 1910 gold boom near Hahn’s peak created the need for lumber, therefore logging was also booming. The Forest Service saw the need to grow the trees back after they were cut down. So they began a program to collect and dry seeds from spruce and pine cones. The operation proved too costly, but the forestry cabin became known as the “Seed” house. Rumor has it, the Forest Service had abandoned it and outlaws used it as a hide out in the early ‘20’s.
