Changing such an iconic ski could only be done if Volkl improved it. The new Gotama features an all new shape of 137-106-122mm. The powder and switch-riding performance is incredible, and yet skiers who want to use it as an every day ski will have greater versatility. Leave it to Völkl to introduce what just a few years ago would have been inconceivable: a rockered, big mountain twin tip that you can use every day at the resort.

holy cr*p. i just got home from 5 days in mammoth. i skied these the first 2 days in pow and crud and they are rockstars. after it started to harden up, i put them away and took out some skis that are better for hardpack and bumps.

these skis are super fast and beefy. don't even try to ski more than a few bumps on them. i would classify them more as "awesome all mountain ski 30 on / 70 off piste advanced to expert skiers who like softer snow conditions". if you have 2-3 skis, this should be one. if you only want 1 ski ... if you like to ski groomed, park or bumps ... i wouldn't recommend this as "the" one. if you ski mostly off the groomed, then i'd recommend this ... except for bumps.

i'm 193 lbs. i got the 186 cm. i'd say i'm a pretty aggressive expert.
